There is not much more to say, but that it has been announced today. Apple’s vice president of Worldwide iPod Product Marketing: “The new 2GB model lets music lovers bring even more songs everywhere they go in the impossibly small iPod shuffle.”
There is something about the word impossibly that sounds convincing when Apple uses it.
The press release also mentions that “iPod owners can choose from a vast ecosystem of accessories with over 4,000 products made specifically for the iPod...” Can choose! Yes you can. You don't have to wait for big department stores to feed you with products choosen by people with bad taste and greedy claws. You can roam the Internet instead and buy directly from the makers. Here is the wonderful ecosystem of titillating small businesses that save your choice from being fenced in. Yes, you can choose.
From my vantage point of view in the ecosystem (deep in the forrests of introspection), i love the space of the Internet. Dealing with distributors and retailers in the dry offline world can be almost a pleasure too, given they have a plan. Apple for one steers clear of stickers, by avoiding to think different about the eligibility of this material to take a spot on its store shelves. I can understand that.
However, should you grab one of the Shuffles in any of the following stores, take a look around for Shufflesome stickers. You'll get another opinion of what they are like, and might even find a Shufflesome customized iPod shuffle on display.
