Side A: Alconic in the car:

I've got a lot of tapes. My old Volkswagen Golf don't have CD reader or USB drives, so i need tapes for listening to music while driving. But soon I'll have a brand new car filled with tecnology things... but I will never throw all my tapes away, for sure!

The pains of "inoffensive, pointless artwork"

David Black, co-founder of The Affair, about the "threadless aesthetic":

We’re actually quite jealous, as it’s all really nicely-drawn and well-finished, and a much easier way to make money. But it’s the sort of inoffensive, pointless artwork that mobile-phone companies put on their advertising during summertime, and it drives us a bit nuts.

...

What we’re trying to do is something a bit more thoughtful than simply trying to appeal to anyone who grew up in the 80’s with a passing interest in computer games, hip-hop and bright colours.

From this Format Magazine interview with the founders of The Affair, a question arises that i think every designer should ask, once in a while: Do you want to win a smile with your graphics, or do you want to make people talk about ideas?

Mint-based Shufflesome pricing

A day after introducing a participatory pricing model, based on unique visitor statistics compiled by Mint, we'll see prices take the cold plunge for the first time on Saturday, April 19, at 18:00 CEST (GMT+1). You'll recognize them by their blue color attire.

Mint-based Shufflesome pricing

Let's play

I'll drop the price, whenever the number of daily unique visitors exceeds 179 people. Conversely, i'll adjust the price back up to its normal level, whenever less than 179 people show up.

That's right—just by showing up on this site, you can have an impact on the price! Take a fresh look at site traffic on shufflesome.com.

Read on here for more details.

Update at 20:55 CEST (GMT+1): I have noticed that i forgot to configure Mint for public acccess. Some of you have been standing before closed doors. Sorry about that. Access is now open: www.shufflesome.com/mint/

How do people feel, who shuffle music?

goddamn_shuffle_flickr.jpg

Granted, shuffling music is not much different from going linearly through music. An array of songs is always consumed one by one, whether you are a careless shuffler, a frequent skipper, a gapless album fanatic, a 400+ playlists junky, a constant rewinder, a grouping expert, or a singer-songwriter yourself. There are simply various modes of listening, of progressing through audio, of wading through emotional airwaves. The terms conflate in meaning and the question simply becomes: How do people feel, when listening to music?

Why? It's fast, it looks good, it has an option to “Seek Original”, which Flickr's own advanced search does not. And compfight gives you a broad overview of what people associate with—say: “shuffle”, or “nano”.

The president: “You shuffle the Shuffle”

Surfacing on digg.com today.

Six years after the war and the ensuing occupation started, another prominent voice recalls:

Thank you for not listening to us and not taking us seriously, but understand that we hear you and will not forget your words.

Thank you, great leader George W. Bush.

Ganamos el galardon de Bronce

Spanish language universalfile.com recognizes shufflesome.com with a Bronce award in the E-commerce category. I don't know anything else about this site. I don't know who embodies the jury and who entered our project there. Should i feel honored? It sure is interesting to see my work listed right next to projects that i hold in high regard. And it makes me chuckle, considering how the Shufflesome workshop could actually look like, when backed with a sizable budget, and more than one part-time employee.

How big a flame does it take to shine?

..one thought on that: A faint glint in a clear sky is hard to miss. The dust and fuzz of the broadest glitter can be very distracting.
